Job Description

Detailed job description for a construction roofing position:

• Involved in the replacement and installation of Industrial, Institutional and Commercial Roof Systems commonly known as flat roofing.
• Prepare the roof surface by removing old materials, cleaning, and repairing any damaged areas.
• Install roofing materials, such as shingles, tiles, or metal sheets, following the manufacturer’s guidelines and industry best practices.
• Cut and shape materials to fit around vents, chimneys, or other protrusions on the roof.
• Ensure proper alignment and positioning of materials to create a water-tight seal.
• Inspect roofs to identify damaged or deteriorated areas that require repair.
• Repair or replace damaged roofing materials, such as shingles, tiles, or flashing.
• Seal leaks or gaps using caulk, sealant, or roofing cement.
• Perform regular maintenance tasks, such as cleaning gutters, removing debris, and checking for signs of damage or wear.

General requirements:

• Use appropriate safety equipment, such as harnesses, helmets, and non-slip footwear.
• Able to use appropriate tools and techniques to achieve precise and accurate installations or repairs.
• Able to operate and maintain tools and equipment used in roofing installations, such as nail guns, saws, and hammers.
• Safely store and handle hazardous materials, such as adhesives or solvents, following safety protocols.
• Must be physically fit with the ability to do heavy lifting and be able to work in the outdoor seasonal elements. Able to work in a fast paced environment and in a team installation crew setting.
• Must be dependable and hardworking, have a professional attitude towards colleagues and clients, have attention to detail and be willing to learn and succeed as a team.
